After a brief substitute appearance against Burnley, Amrabat could make his debut for Manchester United at Old Trafford in Tuesday night’s League Cup clash against Crystal Palace, but sources claim that the Moroccan is just hours away from becoming a Liverpool player in this summer’s transfer window.

Liverpool’s interest in Amrabat is no secret, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly having personally called the 27-year-old midfielder to try and convince him to move to Liverpool from Fiorentina to fill the void left by the departures of Henderson, Fabinho and Milner.

Jurgen Klopp came close to securing his player but last minute problems put the deal on hold and Liverpool signed Gravenbech from Bayern Munich for £34.2m.

The issue is believed to have arisen within the Amrabat team. Negotiations were put on hold for 24 hours, during which time Liverpool decided to renegotiate the transfer of Gravenbech, who is believed to be younger and better suited to Jurgen Klopp’s needs.

Amrabat is now in the process of changing agents, switching from Stellar to Sports Entertainment Group, who were involved in his deal to join Manchester United on loan.
