Manchester United midfielder McTominay could be leaving the club shortly. A report from Fichajes claims that United are ready to sell the 26-year-old Scotland international to raise funds for the club. United have brought in talented midfielders this summer, including Munt and Amrabat to upgrade their midfield lineup, which has sparked speculation about McTominay’s future.

McTominay has not been in the best of form lately, with his last start coming against Brighton at Old Trafford, where he was criticized for a 1-3 defeat for Ten Hagar’s side. United have endured a nightmare start to the season, losing four of their six games in all competitions so far. They currently sit in 13th place in the Premier League table.

United spent over £170 million on reinforcements this summer (Source: Transfer Market), but given their current performance, they will continue to invest in the January transfer window. However, due to the Financial Fair Play rules that limit United’s spending, if they want to sign the players they need, then they will have to sell some of their fringe players in the upcoming transfer window to raise funds. There are a lot of weaknesses within the squad that need to be addressed at the moment and United need to capitalize on the January transfer window to help the team out.

McTominay’s departure could very well be a favorable choice, not only for United but also for himself. His playing time is likely to be limited in the current competitive environment, and he has performed well below competitors such as Munt and Amrabat. And with McTominay already entering the peak of his career, he needs to get more game time to show what he can do. This is also a new opportunity for him personally to find more opportunities at other clubs.
